Application Information for Columbia/Weill Cornell Visiting Students

• As provided by Columbia/Weill Cornell regulations and the Hallym student exchange program, for the academic year 2004-2005, 2-4 students will be accommodated for clinical electives at Kangdong Sacred Heart Hospital (Seoul) or Hallym Sacred Heart Hospital (Anyang, Gyeonggi-do) for a period of 1-2 months in March-April.
• Application must include: Hallym University application form (informal), Dean's Certification form, and a letter of recommendation from a faculty member who has supervised the applicant.
• Application processing schedule: Assignments of visiting students are processed before February 15. Notification/ confirmation will occur before February 28.

Available Electives

• After receipt of applications from interested students, each hospital will offer a selection of 8 electives (neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, laboratory medicine, surgical pathology, cardiovascular surgery, orthopedic surgery, infectious disease) for the academic year 2004-2005.

Living Accommodations and Evaluation

• Columbia/Weill Cornell students may be provided an apartment by Hallym University Medical Center, as well as their own personal room within the hospital.
• During the elective period, Internet, telephone, and library access, as well as meals and other measures for the student's comfort will be provided.
• Upon completion of the elective period, the course professor and elective director will provide a written evaluation to the medical school.  Following final approval from the dean of the medical school, the evaluation will be sent to Columbia/Weill Cornell.
